It is the aim of the Associated & Catholic Colleges of WA to conduct a series of sporting carnivals with the broad aim to provide a culmination to school physical education programmes and programmes for students with disabilities. The carnivals provide istudents the opportunity to further develop their skills whilst representing their school.in a variety of sports.
Major divisional carnivals are conducted in Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country, providing annual competition on a promotion and relegation basis in accordance with its Constitution.
All Star teams are selected after the three major carnivals in athletics, cross country and swimming. All Star teams are honorary teams comprised of the top performers across all schools and divisions.
Lightning Carnivals are conducted for students in Years 7-10. These ‘Lightning Carnivals’ are designed as fun participation events and involve winter team sports for Years 7-9 and beach activities in Year 10.
Inclusive Sports sporting carnivals are a beach carnival, cricket, swimming, Multi sport, fun run/activity, AFL, indoor and outdoor soccer, athletics, and ten pin bowling. The Inclusive Sports Program is designed to provide students with a disability the opportunity to represent their school in ACC sport.
Other sport specific carnivals are also conducted on a needs basis. Currently these include an open Hockey Challenge carnival and an AFL School Boys Cup carnival for Year 10 boys and a Dockers shield for Year 7 boys and girls.
